Ipoacusia da Citomegalovirus congenito (cCMV): l’esperienza di Varese.

Abstract

Congenital cytomegalovirus infection is one of the main causes of sensorineural hearing loss and delayed neurological development in children. The incidence of hearing loss ranges from 7-21%, with variable and often late onset. Since 2012, the year in which universal neonatal hearing screening became mandatory in Italy, the cohort of newborns under follow-up in our Service has been systematically organized. The cohort of children under follow-up for cCMV includes 143 patients. This paper reports on the audiological follow-up data and therapeutic aspects.
